Over a decade ago, I adopted a minimalistic lifestyle and have simplified everything. My closet to my to-do lists to my beauty routines to simplify everything. I am happier than ever because I use less makeup and have less products. Isn’t that what we all desire?

This post is for those who agree. JoEllen is a friend who helps women simplify their lives without sacrificing beauty and style. Because I have simplified my own beauty routines, but I don’t know how to offer advice like she does, I reached out to her for some tips.

If you are ready to simplify your skincare routine and make minimal makeup, read on.

We are constantly bombarded daily with beauty products, including cleansers, foundations and blushes. It can be difficult to decide what products to purchase, what we should use, and how to use them all.

This complete beauty overwhelm can cause paralysis and make it difficult to do anything. The. Things. Are you right? !

There has to be a better way. You can still live a simple life and look beautiful. A simple routine can help you look more polished without feeling overwhelmed or broke. These are some ways to simplify your beauty routine.

How to simplify your skincare routine

Keep it simple when it comes to skin. There are many face products, serums, and masks to choose from. Keep it simple and your skin will be healthy and happy!

It doesn’t matter what skin type you have, oily, combination, dry, or normal, it is important to follow three simple steps every day: cleanse, tone and moisturize. That’s it! You can certainly add more products to your beauty routine, but if you want to simplify it, stick with these essentials.

Some women wash their faces both morning and evening, while others do it only in the morning. Even if you had only one hour to complete your daily skincare routine, it is best to do it at night.

Think about the grime, sweat and oil that builds up on your skin after a long day at work. Your face is like a windshield for a car. It collects this film over time, and it needs to be cleaned.

Do not go to bed with a dirty or soiled face. You skin is constantly in a state of renewal. Make sure you go to bed with a clean, fresh face. Make it a daily habit to clean, tone, and moisturize your skin each night. You’ll see a huge difference in just a few minutes.

Tips for Cleaning Your Face

Why is it so important to moisturize, tone, cleanse and tone your skin daily? These are three easy steps to keep your skin healthy. These are the essential steps to happy skin.

Cleansing your skin helps remove product buildup. (Remember the windshield example? Warm water, a microfiber towel, and a good cleansing will clean your face well. Your skin is delicate, so rub your cleanser in circular motions and then scrub off any grime.

Use a microfiber cloth to remove dirt and makeup. It will amaze you at the amount of dirt and makeup a microfiber cloth can remove! The microfiber cloth will gently pick up dirt, makeup, and cleanser, leaving your skin clean and soft. You can use a different one every day to ensure you don’t spread bacteria on your freshly cleansed skin.

What are the benefits of toning your skin?

Although you may have heard of toner, you don’t know what it is or how to use it. Let’s simplify. Toner is used for restoring your skin’s natural pH levels. Toner can be used to balance your skin’s natural oils after you’ve cleansed it.

After cleansing your skin, either spray toner directly on your face and let it dry or use a cotton pad to gently wipe your face. It will make your skin happy and balanced. It’s easy!

Are You Really Going to Need Moisturizers?

Moisturise, no matter your skin type. Even if your skin is oily, moisturize! Your skin needs to be moisturized. It’s like giving your body water. No matter what skin type you have, moisturizing your skin helps to hydrate and keep it soft.

Now it’s time for moisturizer. To be completely clear, you should not use any normal body lotion to moisturize the skin. Use a moisturizer specifically designed for your face. It is important to know the difference.

Apply a few drops to your face, then gently massage them into your skin. Don’t forget to cover your neck.

Oily skin that isn’t moisturized can lead to your sebaceous glands overproducing oil, which will cause more oil to build up on your face. It’s not a good thing! You need less oil. This is why you need to include this important step.

Take your skincare routine to the next level

You can take your skincare routine one step further, but not make it more complicated by adding an exfoliator or a mask to your weekly routine.

Exfoliating is one of my favorite steps in the skincare process. This helps to keep your skin smooth and healthy! An exfoliator can help to remove dead skin cells, product buildup, increase blood flow and make your skin feel smooth. Yes, please! After cleansing your skin, use an exfoliator and follow it up with moisturizing and toning.

You can also use an exfoliator once a week to give your skin a little more TLC. Masks can help stimulate healthy cell turnover, reduce oily skin, and hydrate the skin. These are all great benefits!

How to simplify your makeup routine

Makeup is just the finishing touch to a great skincare routine. It doesn’t need to be complicated and you only need to use a few products. Keep it simple and only use a handful of makeup products that highlight your natural beauty to show off your best self.

Minimalist Makeup Essentials

Are you a makeup addict? It can take so long to find the right product, and also takes up so much space. Stick to your favorite products to keep the process simple. You should have a minimalist makeup collection that contains fewer products.

A minimal makeup collection usually consists of:

  • foundation (to help even out your skin tone)
  • To create shadows or dimension, contour
  • Blush (to give a pretty flush of color)
  • Eyeshadows (to brighten up your eyes)
  • mascara to lengthen your lashes
  • Lipstick (to complete the look)

Anything extra is great! Eyeliner, eyebrows, bronzer and illuminator are all great makeup products.

You can simplify your beauty routine by avoiding all the products offered by the beauty industry. Find your favorite products and stick with them. You can also create a customized compact and a capsule makeup collection, and then say goodbye to all the rest!

I once had a lot of clutter… I had all the colors and new products. I was wasting so much money and it took up a lot space in my drawers. It was liberating to switch to a simpler make-up routine. A beauty minimalist can save time, space, money, and effort.

One-on-One Help

You’re not the only one who doesn’t want to buy anything, even if you are on the opposite side. Many women feel overwhelmed and confused when it comes to knowing which colors look best on them and what products can help them look and feel great.

It’s crucial to have someone to assist you in this area. It’s not possible to walk into Target or email Amazon and ask for the right shade of lipstick that will match your skin tone. It would be wonderful though, right? You can work one-on-one with someone who specializes in color and beauty. To get a free makeup consultation, you can share your makeup preferences and needs. I will then recommend the right product for you. Let’s not get complicated!

You don’t need to be complicated or use a lot of products to feel beautiful. Simple skincare and makeup can simplify your beauty routine and help you feel beautiful without all the fuss.

One last note on minimalism, make-up and beauty

Jo-Ellen, my friend, shared her tips for creating a minimalist makeup routine. Her advice was great. I also loved the idea of making a customized makeup compact. It’s a great way for me to reduce waste. ).

Before I end this post, however, I wanted to remind everyone minimalism does not fit all. There are no rules that you must follow. It’s all about alignment, and finding the sweet spot that allows you to have the things you love and supports the lifestyle you desire.

There are many ways to be minimalist. Some people use full-face makeup while others use a combination of coconut oil, bbcream, and gloss. This is what I use every day because it works for me. But don’t consider this advice, I’m not an expert!

JoEllen would agree with me. It’s not about how many products you use. A minimal makeup routine means that you only use what makes your skin feel good.

Do not be concerned about what social media says about “best minimalist makeup brands” and “must-have lip colors for summer months.”

Have fun with makeup and color. You can also try something different and wear less makeup. The best minimalist makeup look is one that feels right for you.
